Disability North is a Disabled People’s User-Led Organisation which promotes inclusion, independence and choice for disabled people and their families by providing information, advice and support on any aspect of disability.

With the needs of disabled people at the heart of their services, Disability North’s free, impartial advice empowers people to make informed decisions, maximizing the control they have over their own lives.

As choice, control and self-empowerment are vital components of Personalised Care, Disability North’s mission is fully aligned with that of the Coalition for Personalised Care (C4PC).

Vici Richardson, Disability North Chief Executive Officer tells us, “Joining C4PC will bring many benefits to our organisation, including sharing information, resources and knowledge.

“We will be able to cascade accurate and up-to-date information from C4PC’s network to our members, and work alongside C4PC Partners towards improving Personalised Care in our region.”

As part of the Disability Rights UK (also a C4PC Partner) Our Voices group, Disability North already works closely with other local VCSE partners and participates in working groups with TLAP and the LGA. Their strong links to local authorities and other health and social care organisations will be an asset to C4PC’s network.

C4PC Programme Manager, Emma Geldart, comments that “Disability North’s long experience in the work of Direct Payments and personalisation is a fantastic source of knowledge for the Coalition.

“It’s so important that the voices of disabled people are heard and included in discussions about Personalised Care. Disability North will be able to highlight the issues that disabled people and their families are facing.”
