In December 2020, GP federation, Alliance for Better Care (ABC), was tasked with running the COVID-19 vaccination programme across Crawley, East Surrey and Mid-Sussex.
Its leadership team was also keen to find new ways to assist the local clinical commissioning groups (CCG) in reaching out to vulnerable groups to come forward for the COVID-19 vaccination.
In July 2021, two vaccine equity co-ordinators joined the team with the aim of supporting vulnerable local people, including Gypsy Roma Travellers (GRT), minority ethnic groups, people experiencing homelessness, asylum seekers, refugees and those on low income and/or receiving benefits.
This case study examines the lessons learned through the equity co-ordinators’ work.
